All national sporting federations preparing for the Pacific Games in New Caledonia next year are being called to a special meeting tomorrow at the CISNOC office in Taputapuatea.

The meeting is to update national federations on the progress of the Pacific Games and to begin preparing Team Cook Islands for this event.

The New Caledonia games will be held between August 27 and September 10.

On tomorrow’s meeting agenda will be discussions on athlete eligibility, selection criteria for the 2011 games, preparation of a list of athletes, updating accreditation information, updating individual code training programmes and other general business.

Over 5000 athletes from 22 Pacific countries will compete at the Pacific Games in 27 sports codes including athletics, basketball, football, golf, rugby sevens, swimming, table tennis, tennis, va’a, beach volleyball, indoor volleyball, weightlifting, archery, badminton, baseball, bodybuilding, boxing, cricket, judo, karate, power-lifting, sailing, shooting, squash, surfing, taekwondo and triathlon.

Wednesday’s meeting, which starts at 12pm, will also include the discussion and confirmation of codes that the Cook Islands will compete in at the games.
