The Cook Islands triathlon season officially rolls into action today with a duathlon in Panama.

Todays duathlon will start at 5.15pm from the new venue in Panama opposite Motor Centre.

The course distance this week will be a short 2km run, 8km cycle and 1km run to start the season off.

All cyclists must wear a helmet and those that dont have one yet may be lucky enough to find one in the back of the Hash van and Len Edwards will have a couple of spare ones lying around too.

No helmet means no cycle thats the rule.

The first triathlon of the season will be run this Saturday and will start at 3pm from the normal Tikioki triathlon site next to the Are Manea.

Everyone is welcome to join in and give triathlon a go so dust off those goggles, bikes and running shoes for another full season of multisport.

The triathlon distance this Saturday will be a 200m swim, 8km cycle and 2km swim.

This is a very casual event and its over to you to do what you want for however long you want to do it.

The Hash cooler and beverages will be on offer to hydrate athletes afterwards.

Dont forget your helmet either as the new helmet rule applies for both duathlon and triathlon events.
