Saturday 18: Newly formed Te Aorangi taekwon-do club will have a car wash fundraiser in front of the Aroa Nui hall in Arorangi today to help the club purchase new equipment.

They will also be selling sausage sizzles, and steak and mushroom rolls.

The club is currently having an orientation for new members at the Avatea School hall during the month of April.

Training days are on Monday and Wednesday from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

Taekwon-do instructor Upoko Poko, who recently earned a black belt 1st dan rating, welcomes everyone to come along and try out the sport.

The sport is not only for the young but also for those young at heart. This is a great opportunity to get the whole family involved as one of the clubs motto is, ‘A family that kicks together, sticks together’.

“Taekwon-do is a sport that can enhance one’s physical fitness, self-esteem, confidence, develop discipline, teach self defence and strengthen one’s mind and body,” says Poko.

Te Aorangi Club would like to thank Turtles, CITC and Avarua Bakery for their assistance and continuous support.
