This week’s Week of Rugby kicks off this afternoon with the Rarotonga Primary Schools Mixed Rippa Championships at the BCI Stadium starting at 2pm.

Five schools will contest this year’s championships with Avatea Primary defending their 2009 title.

Avarua, Imanuela, Arorangi and Nukutere teams will be putting the pressure on Avatea to snap up the title for themselves.

The championship is a mixed competition which will see combined boys and girls teams take to the field.

The competition will be a round robin format followed by the playoff for first to fifth place.

All schools will play a minimum of 4 games which will be run in 2 8 minute halves

Two games will be run at a time and this is sure to provide plenty of action for parents and the community who are all invited to head to the BCI Stadium and cheer on the kids.
