Juniors sail on in Aitutaki

Sailing continues in Aitutaki and Rarotonga and the junior sailors are to the fore during this school holiday period.

The juniors Opti Gold Fleet kids are in Aitutaki at the National Champs and most are doing very well so far - after day two of competition.

Wind of up to 17 or 18 knots are making it a bit difficult for the younger and lighter sailors, but maybe the conditions will change for them in the next couple of days.

There will be Junior Sailing this Saturday as usual – a good chance for those greenies to get some extra coaching.

Rumour has it that the revamped sunburst “Le Panto” is about to make an appearance on the lagoon after all those years of inactivity. Go Chris!

Let’s hope that will inspire a few more of those “stuck in the rack” boats to come out of retirement as well.

The official opening day for the new season is planned for next week, so make sure you keep that date free!

The prizegiving for Junior and Seniors for last year will also be happening that day--all the more reason for being there--who knows who won what?

More info on the day’s programme to follow shortly.

Meanwhile, the C I Vaka Champs are scheduled to take place the following week (October 30). Vaka owners/skippers need to get those boats organised.
