The Cook Islands Canoeing Association has elected Janet Maki as president of the association for 2011.

Maki will be assisted by vice president Brent Fisher, treasurer Lorena Maru and secretary Pamela Maru.

The junior development officer is Teina Taulu who has already been through schools with the Vaka Iti programme.

Club representatives on the CICA executive are Malcolm Laxton-Blinkhorn of the Live Free Club, Vaea Melvin of the Ngakau Toa Vaka cub and Reuben Dearlove of the Te Tupu O Te Manava club.

The association now looks forward to its first major fundraising event, the V12 Corporate Oe Vaka races planned for April 9 at Muri beach.

Registrations for this very popular event are now open and for more information on the corporate raceday or to find out where to pick up a registration form – contact Tina Mitchell or members of the newly elected executive committee.
