The golden oldies rugby finale last Friday was a memorable occasion.

Fresh from his holiday, Indian wasted no time infringing and referee Simi quickly obliged with a penalty.

Silky Wilky at halfback provided quick balls for his backs while independent Philip kept isolating himself from his support.

For the Sydney-siders – crashfire Joe and ultrasound Tim proved a handful for the defence.

At the clubhouse, Demo Tupa and Papa Vak welcomed everyone for refreshments and delicious kai.

Sponsor Trish of The Bond presented prizes to the referees, Sharks for best host, Mongoose for friendship, Nga Puna for most improved player and Anau Manarangi for best player.

While the women players earned prizes for playing enterprising rugby, Taua, Navy and John W got theirs for mouthing the most or back-chatting.

The evening was capped by some amazing entertainment beginning with a solo by Ake.

The Legends’ Shana and male partner showcased the fast tamure.

Tupapa unveiled its own Tom Jones and champion dancer Casper led the Mongoose in a spectacular drum dance.

Thanks Tupapa for an enjoyable night and bon voyage to the touring team.
