Get your hearts pumping at this afternoons gold coin ‘Walk the Talk’ event at the Punanga Nui Markets to mark the start of the Week of Health.

This afternoon’s walk has been organised by the Women in Sports Commission which also seconds as awareness campaign for the up and coming walking Vaevae Challenge by the Ministry of Health.

The walk begins at 5pm from the Punanga Nui Markets with three walking courses available.

There will be a short 1km course which winds around the Avatiu-Ruatonga area and ending at the Ruatonga meeting house opposite the market.

The 3km walk will take walkers around the back of Avatiu-Ruatonga and winds back around the Telecom Cook Islands building, through Avarua and back to the markets.

The longer 5km course follow the same route as the two shorter course but walkers will continue past the Pickering Motors car yard round to the SDA church in Tauae and back down the Post Office road to the roundabout and back to the markets.

All CISNOC sports codes and athletes are asked to be part of this walk especially the swim and sailing athletes preparing for the World Youth Olympics in Singapore and the six codes getting ready for the Delhi Commonwealth Games – athletics, lawn bowls, netball, weightlifting, tennis and boxing athletes.
