Fun day at golf

Fun was the order of the day for the Boyd family (right) at Saturday’s Rotary Golf event. They not only won the best dressed team award, but they also had the undistinguished honour of winning “The Worst Golf” Award.

Several years ago, Father (Christmas) of the team, Bob Boyd, won a motorbike for getting the first ‘hole in one’ of the day.

A bike is put on the line each year by The Motor Centre in support of Rotary’s annual fundraising effort. This year’s score indicated that perhaps Bob’s golf (and that of his family) has obviously deteriorated since then. The top team with the best nett score was the NZ High Commission which was particularly appropriate as the tournament was organised this year in memory of the former NZ High Commissioner, a keen golfer, a fellow Rotarian and a great friend, the late Tia Barrett.
