Final cycle race today

Wednesday 26: Tonight will be the fourth Westpac handicap cycle race starting from Tupapa and taking in a full circuit of the island.

The race will start at 4.45pm and anyone wanting to do a lesser distance may do the 20km, the same as last week.

Last week the first across the finish line was Jacob Pynenberg in 45:12 after reportedly putting in some secret training midweek. Second was Jules Mayer with just five seconds back to Vanessa Palmer in third.

Anyone who has not entered the previous week’s race will be allocated a start position as appropriate. There have been three separate winners of the Westpac Bank-sponsored prizes so far and the handicap spacing has proved to be quite accurate.

Today’s event should be an interesting finish over the last few kilometres where drafting is allowed once you catch the rider in front. See you there just before 4.45pm please. - CITAI
