A fight night has been scheduled this Thursday night for local club boxers where a team of up to 5 fighters will be selected to represent the Cooks at Augusts Pacific Games in New Caledonia.

While the fight night has been scheduled organisers are yet to confirm the venue and time of the event.

The Banana Court was the fight night venue for the first two events this year however a number of complaints were made and acknowledged by the Cook Islands Boxing Amateur Association about the concrete floor boxing ring.

The association has a brand new boxing ring which was purchased in 2009 for the Pacific Mini Games held on Rarotonga that year.

The ring was successfully rigged at the Telecom Sports Arena last year for the Fight Night fundraiser with league great turned boxer Monty Betham.

The Cook Islands Amateur Boxing Association also looks forward to hosting a Tahiti boxing delegation in early June.
