In the 4th challenge of the Under 16 Powerade Trophy the Arorangi Cowboys proved too strong for the Panthers to win the midweek match on Wednesday 43-12.

A pleasing aspect of the game was some of the running rugby on display and the great tries scored throughout the match especially in the 2nd half when the Panthers decided to chance their arm. The Cowboys lead at the halftime break by 19-0.

Best for the Cowboys were loose forward Dennis Rangi and first 5/8 Tereinga Murare both players scored a brace of tries. Best for the Panthers was their fullback Maeva Smith, who received one of the valuable player of the game awards, and loose forwards Joe Tautu and Davey Mato.

Yves Obeda of the Cowboys was the second recipient of the most improved player award.

The final Powerade challenge will be against the Under 16 Avatiu Eels August 31.

Looking ahead to the weekend The main match of the week will be between the Cowboys and Eels at Raemaru Park while the Panthers will host the Bulls and the Reds host the Dragons.
