Cook Islands under 17 soccer player Anthony Samuel heads the ball away from a Tahiti player during their clash on Wednesday.

After a disastrous performance in their first soccer match against New Caledonia, the Cook Islands under 17 men’s soccer team bounced back with a critical performance losing to group leaders Tahiti by just one goal to nil.

The Cook’s played a different game compared to their first match with a more structured game in attack and defence.

The Cook Islands team had two goal scoring opportunities of their own but were not able to finish them off.

The team will face Tonga in the third match on Saturday (NZT).
