A gold medal at the Oceania Olympic Qualifying boxing tournament in Canberra, Australia, later this month will earn Cook Islands boxers a spot at the 2012 London Olympics.

Top boxers Mathew Titoa and Eddie Daniel have been confirmed to attend the qualifying tournament with two other boxers yet to be confirmed.

Both Titoa and Daniel have extensive experience in the boxing ring having represented the Cook Islands at regional and international bouts including at the Commonwealth Games.

Titoa is expected to fight in the light-heavy weight division while Daniel will box in the middleweight division.

Yet to be confirmed as part of the team to the qualifying tournament is Tahiti based Cook Islands boxer Jubilee Arama and Australian based boxer Sonny Nooroa.

A boxing meeting was held yesterday to confirm the final team to Canberra.

The team will also have a number of fundraising events to attend the tournament and CINews will report these as the information comes to hand.
