Fourteen new sailors received their Learn to Sail certificates yesterday after successfully completing the junior sailing course this week.
To celebrate their achievement – the under 12 sailors had a pirate picnic on Motu Koromiri in Muri before being presented with their certificates.
During the three-day course the new sailors learnt water safety, parts of a boat and of course how to sail in the plastic Optimist class of boats.Proud parents watched as each child was presented with a certificate.
The older kids in the course will take to the water today in the Green Fleet before the Learn to Sail course starts again on January 8.
