Another fifty bags of aggregates (black rock sand) departed Avatiu harbour yesterday afternoon destined for the island of Atiu. 20060910
The sixth delivery of 50 bags of aggregates (black rock sand) departed for the island of Atiu at midday yesterday on board MV Lady Moana.
To date almost 200 bags have been delivered to the island for its tar-sealed road project.
By the end of this week, half of the aggregate consignment is scheduled to be completed; the rest will continue to be shipped next week.
The sealing of the main road from the village of Teenui to the wharf and onwards towards the airport (since this road is heavily used daily), will begin immediately after all the bags of black rocks have landed.
The aggregates produced on Atiu are currently used both to form and fill the remaining roads, and to seal the remaining village roads that connect to existing households, outside of the main villages.
