Blackrock Pre-School was delighted to spend their Thursday afternoon unboxing a special surprise for their little ones.

Christmas came early this year for the little ones at Blackrock Pre-School where the pupils received a pile of brand new toys.

The kids were over the moon to receive a range of new balls, train sets, sand pit toys, construction blocks, alphabet and number wooden block sets, large sea animals, jumbo wild and farm animals, mobile double sets, poster paints and much more, which they wasted no time in putting to good use straight away.

Principal Stephanie Forbes said the toys were purchased by the school’s parents after some careful budgeting with a total of $4500 spent.

“We want to really acknowledge our parents and thank them for what they’ve done,” she said.

The excited kids were all called to sit down and witness the unboxing of their new play equipment on Thursday, and were ecstatic even at the unboxing of a rubber ball – the first toy that was revealed.

At school the next day, the novelty of the new toys was still as strong as ever, with many kids, no doubt excited for the beginning of the new school week on Monday where they could return to school to play with the new toys.

With the school’s roll chock-a-block currently, the toys have come at a perfect time to keep the little ones entertained and to encourage their creativity and brain development through play.

Forbes says this is an important part of the school’s values as they are “passionate about play-based learning, whereby the children are given the freedom to play where they want and with whatever they want, as that is how they learn and develop”.
