Parade kicks off Te Maeva Nui
The group representing Aitutaki celebrate the beginning of Te Maeva Nui as their colourful fl oat moves up Maire Nui Drive in Avarua. The annual tradition was once again a chance for people to dress up and dance while competing to be the best fl oat on the day. The weather was fi ne and sunny which was great for spectators and performers alike.

The official opening of the 52nd Te Maeva Nui celebrations at Constitution Park was packed with Te Maeva Nui sponsors, government officials and supporters yesterday as what looked like the whole island gathered in anticipation for the annual float parade.
