Saturday 28 March: A 21-year-old has pleaded guilty to a hit and run incident last Sunday involving two Chinese workers.

Eli Cumming appeared in the Rarotonga High Court on Thursday pleading guilty to driving while disqualified, failing to stop to ascertain injuries and render assistance, and two counts of careless driving causing injury.

Police have said that one victim had his foot ran over while the other was hit in the right calf while walking in front of the New Zealand High Commission residencies in Nikau.

Justice of Peace Carmen Temata said the case was out of her jurisdiction and adjourned the sentence to April 2 before Chief Justice David Williams. - DK
