Challenging role for new police recruits
New police officers perform a traditional challenge during a graduation ceremony outside the police station yesterday. Cook Islands Police Service added six new officers to its force to maintain law and order in the country. Yesterday, five males and one female recruit graduated from an eight-week training programme. They are now probationer constables and are qualified to arrest, issue tickets and control traffic. They also have the power to enforce the law with integrity and commitment. This year's recruit wing is named after High Court JP John Kenning. 15112745
