27 March: Up to 15 staff from the Oasis branch of the CITC Food Group have been sacked this week.

CITC general manager Gaye Whitta says the staff were dismissed following an ongoing investigation into stock shortages.

“The matter is now in the hands of the police,” she said.

CITC has begun advertising for workers to fill the positions.

Police Commissioner Pat tasker confirmed yesterday that a team of three headed by Detective Inspector Mark Franklin has been assigned to the investigation.

The police officers have been ordered to work through their inquiries quickly but thoroughly. Tasker expects they will finish in one to two weeks.

He said early indications are that up to 15 people are involved, and may be facing criminal charges. - MM/JW
