Germinators and Nukz Power lead the open men’s and women’s touch competition following the recent round on Monday at the National Stadium in Nikao.

In the men’s division, Germinators have 18 points from seven matches while Nukz Power command a slender lead on 12 points from five matches in the women’s division.

On Monday, the game of the day went to team Nukz Power led by Rima Browne and Team Nikz led by Edith Nicholas and her two daughters, Maeva and Mele.

Cook Islands Touch president Julz Westrupp said: “Both teams have young blood as well as experience. Both refs were kept on their toes as the ladies were claiming touches here and there. Both teams wouldn’t give up and went out to the final whistle.” The match ended in a 5-all draw.

All teams have a game in hand except for Germinators in the men’s division.

“It seems top four in the men’s division has been decided, it’s just a matter of who is in which position,” Westrupp said.

The top four placings in the women’s division will be decided in the last round of games next week.

Meanwhile Cook Islands Touch will hold another training (muster) session at 6pm today for both men and women. All those who registered their interest for Pacific Games are required to attend.
