Tupapa Maraerenga premier men’s side was crowned the Round Cup champions after their 4-3 win against Titikaveka on Saturday.

With a round remaining in the 2020 competition, the side is confirmed for top place finish with 11 wins, two draws and one loss.

Against Titikaveka, Tupapa led 1-0 at the break thanks to Paavo Mustonen’s goal.

In the second half, the side went on to score another two goals from Anthony Samuela and Frances Terepo, to extend their lead to 3-0.

But Titikaveka were not ready to give up just yet. Titikaveka’s ‘Action Man’ Akiona Tairi with support from his teammates managed to level the score 3-all with less than 10 minutes remaining.

But veteran Paavo Mustonen ensured Tupapa came away with the win after scoring his second and the winning goal in the dying stages of the match.

In the other premier men’s match, Puaikura FC visited Nikao Sokattak to battle it out for second place on the leaderboard.

Steven Willis scored the opening goal for the Nikao team before Puaikura’s Campbell Best equalised.

Both teams fought tooth and nail for the winning goal and Nikao’s Julius David succeeded, giving his side 2-1 win.
