They came, they saw, they conquered. Titikaveka added to Puaikura’s miserable season beating the home side 1-0 at Raemaru Park on Saturday.

Within the first few minutes of the game, Puaikura tried to maintain possession of the ball but couldn’t seem to keep it in their favour.

Puaikura’s Davida David alongside experienced defender Paul-luiz Van Eijk and his backline stood tall, keeping the opponents at the bay.

Titikaveka’s usual speedsters Joseph Tuaputa and Nuku Mokoroa found it hard to get a foot pass this sturdy backline, both teams had outweighed themselves when taking forward any balls.

After relentless effort, Titikaveka through a free kick from the half way mark scored the opener from Bill Tangapiri.

Puaikura came out hungrier and wanting to even the playing field but time was not on their side as Titikaveka held on to win 1-0.

Further down at CIFA Complex, Tupapa Maraerenga came away with a 3-1 win against Matavera, while on Friday, Nikao Sokattak were on a road to redemption when taking on Avatiu, also at CIFA Complex, thumping them 6-0.

In the Islander women’s division at Raemaru Park, Titikaveka created a major upset beating defending champions Puaikura by 2-0.

The visitors made many attempts to score in the opening half but as always Puaikura’s Tasha Dean with her young backline kept denying them the opportunity to score.

On the other end, Titikaveka’s young defender Viorangi Kite wouldn’t let the speedsters Victoria Fatiaki and Teupoko Tuariki sneak in.

In the second spell, Titikaveka’s Ani Piri and Tehinnah Tatuava scored a goal each to held their side win 2-0.

At CIFA Complex, Tupapa maintained their unbeaten run overcoming Matavera 2-0, while on Thursday Nikao Sokattak beat Avatiu 1-0.
