The opening week of the Rarotonga football season was undeniably filled with outstanding performances.

Football fans can look forward to an action-packed season where rivalries will intensify and new stars will emerge in the coming weeks.

Over the span of four days, a total of 26 matches were played with players showcasing their talents and determination to secure a strong start for their respective teams.

Fans are buzzing with excitement as the first week of matches unfolded from August 9-12 and the sport will continue to entertain local and international fans alike over the coming months until December.

The first games in round 1 took to the field at the CIFA (Cook Islands Football Association) complex, where supporters gathered to cheer on their favourite teams across various age divisions.

In the U6 category, Tupapa FC was declared winner by default after Matavera failed to turn up for the game.

Another match saw Puaikura FC face off against Titikaveka FC, which ended in a high-scoring game with Titikaveka emerging victorious 9-5.

The U8 age group witnessed three thrilling encounters.

Nikao FC clashed with Avatiu in a match that saw Avatiu claim victory with a scoreline of 5-2.

The following game had Tupapa FC and Matavera in a close contest, ultimately leading to Tupapa securing the win at 4-3.

Puaikura FC and Titikaveka also battled it out on the field, with Puaikura edging out a narrow victory over Titikaveka at 2-1.

The U10 action began as Nikao FC convincingly defeated Avatiu 5-0.

Matavera and Tupapa faced each other in another nail-biting contest, where Matavera managed to close out on top at 4-3.

Finally, Puaikura FC ensured their place in week one glory with a 2-1 win against Titikaveka.

The U12 matches saw Puaikura FC dominate their game against Titikaveka with a spectacular 6-0 victory, thanks to their aggressive offensive plays and solid defence.

The U12 Avatiu FC face-off against Nikao FC heated up the pitch with Avatiu coming out strong, securing a 3-1 win.

In an intense battle between Matavera and Tupapa in the third U12 match, Matavera proved victorious with a 2-0 win.

The first U18 Men's game saw rivals Tupapa FC and Matavera face each other, ending in a nail-biting 1-1 draw that showcased both team's competitive spirit.

On Thursday August 10, the U15 boys' match between Tupapa FC and Matavera FC saw Matavera taking home an impressive 6-1 victory in an enthralling show of skill and teamwork.

Meanwhile, in a well-fought Senior Women's match, Matavera scratched out a win against Tupapa FC with a slim margin of 2-1.

On Friday August 11, the U15 girls' match was an intense defensive battle between Tupapa FC and Matavera FC that resulted in a goalless draw, leaving both teams to eagerly anticipate their next clash.

With tensions high, the final Premier Men's match of the week had Tupapa FC rising to the occasion with an overwhelming 7-1 win against Matavera FC, setting the tone for the rest of the season.

On Saturday August 12, Puaikura FC hosted Titikaveka FC at Raemaru Park. The day witnessed a series of thrilling matches between the two clubs.

In the Under-15 Boys category, Titikaveka FC emerged victorious against Puaikura FC with a striking 5-0 win.

A series of well-coordinated plays and robust strategies allowed Titikaveka FC to dominate the match. Meanwhile, the Under-15 Girls match between Puaikura FC and Titikaveka FC ended in a stalemate with both teams unable to break through their opposition's defences ending the game in a draw.

The Under-18 Men's match showcased exceptional skills from both clubs but ultimately saw Titikaveka FC secure a narrow victory with a final score line of 1-0.

The Senior Women's clash pitted Puaikura FC against Titikaveka FC, where Puaikura secured a decisive victory of 3-0 showcasing incredible team chemistry and determination.

The much-awaited Premier Men's clash concluded with Puaikura defeating Titikaveka by just one goal in a fiercely competitive match that had spectators at the edge of their seats.

In the Under-15 Boys' category, Avatiu FC emerged victorious against Nikao FC with an impressive score of 2-0.

The Under-15 Girls' game resulted in Nikao FC outscoring Avatiu FС by a single goal. For the Under-18 Men, Nikao FC dominated over Avatiu with a 3-1 victory.
