The 2022 Rarotonga football season culminates with the Knockout Cup finals at the CIFA Complex in Matavera.

CIFA Complex will be buzzing with uplifting energy as the youths and seniors will be going all out in their final matches of the season.

Setting the standard for this final day at 11:15am will be the U15 Girls, featuring Avatiu golden girls and Tupapa Maraerenga’s young guns in black. This game will be followed up by Avatiu’s boys of steel, up against Matavera’s maroon masters, who will complete all youth division matches.

Opening up for the senior women and premier men’s matches will be the hard-hitting U18 Men’s game that will begin at 1:15pm, with Nikao Sokattak and Tupapa Maraerenga.

The senior women’s will star Titikaveka’s ladies in blue who fought their way through Puaikura last week to get a chance at the Knockout Cup. This time they will be facing a tough lot of ladies from Tupapa Maraerenga, so this match will be heated from start to finish.

In the feature match of the day and season, Nikao Sokattak and Tupapa Maraerenga will battle it out for the premier men’s title.

Nikao will be looking at regaining their faith by taking over the show, while Tupapa Maraerenga are aiming to take another trophy back after reclaiming the Round Cup title.

Nikao Sokattak’s star goalkeeper Tahiri Elikana will be the toughest to break in this match, as he will be closely tracking any Men in Black daring to score against his side. Twin brothers Dwayne and Jordan Matapo will be providing extra cover, standing tall in defence against Tupapa forwards.

Tupapa’s Sunai Joseph and Marcus Gibbens will be reckless in front, taking through as many long balls towards the goal as they can, hoping to outsmart Elikana in between the posts.

Tupapa Maraerenga defenders Oscar Wichman and Ronnie Sakai will be providing cover against the yellow and red brigade, especially striker Nuku Mokoroa, who has proven lethal with possession this season.

The premier match kicks off at 4.15pm.
