The hotly contested BSP Netball in Paradise tournament will enter its final day today at the Ngatangiia/Matavera Netball Club courts in Muri.

The last round of matches was held yesterday to determine the semi-final fixtures in the social women and open mixed grades.

In the social women’s semis starting at 11am, Just Kruizin Matatahi will play North’s Netball Club while at 11.40am Smash will battle Porirua RSA Rebels.

In the open mixed division, Smash will be playing 100% Wale at 12.20pm followed Ahikaa versus Charlie’s Angels clash at 1pm.

The finals will follow from 1.40pm starting with social women third place playoff followed by the final at 2.20pm. The third-place playoff in the open mixed will start at 3pm followed by the final at 4pm.

Netball Cook Islands’ Kura Moekaa said: “Social women matches is a mix of social and competitive nature. Experienced and young (as young as 14) are taking part in this division.”

Just Kruizin from New Zealand have been dominant since the start of the tournament on Saturday with Smash from Australia hot on their heels.

Moekaa said cool weather made for “okay weather conditions to play”, adding they have been fortunate “that it hasn’t poured during match times”.

“(Overseas) teams are coping okay or managing okay, squeezing in tours of island and Captain Tamas (in between the matches).

“Local teams and local officials are juggling work commitments but otherwise everything is going well.”

The annual tournament will culminate with the presentations at The Islander Hotel tonight.
