Cook Islands News profiles another athlete who will be representing the country in golf for the Pacific Mini Games, which will get underway on June 17.

William Howard

Age – 28

Island and village – Rarotonga/Aitutaki /Rakahanga

What future goals/ambitions you have in the sport? To represent the Cook Islands in many more International Events and also to Break Previous Course Records held at both the Rarotonga Golf Club and Aitutaki Golf Club

What ambitions you have outside of sports (career, education, etc)?  Have always wanted to be an Airline Pilot

What you love about your sport? The mental aspects of the game of golf. It’s just you and the little white golf ball. And just the fact that your mistakes and your success is on yourself as I mentioned before. It’s just you and that white golf ball. That’s what I love the most about the game of golf.

What events and competitions have you competed in/ what are notable achievements?

Asia Amateur Championship x 6, NZ National Events 2007-2019, Australia Master of the Amateur x 3, Cook Island Events – World Long Drive Pacific Series – 4th Place, Tahiti Open, Represented Bay of Plenty Golf 2007-2018

What pushed you to compete at international level?  Ambitions to become a Professional Golfer
