Cook Islands Bowls is extremely pleased with its players who performed at very high standards at the 2024 Auckland Bowling Championship last week in most disciplines.

Rima Strickland and Nicole Singer from Royal Oak Bowling Club won the 2024 Ladies Pairs Championship against Carlton Cornwall Bowling Club, while Taiki Paniani, Teora Turua and Phil Taylor of Bridge Park Bowling Club claimed second place behind East Tamaki Bowling Club.

Before the men’s triple final, Paniani and Turua played and won their semi-finals against Royal Oak Bowling Club which had another Cook Islands player David Akaruru.

The national bowling participated at the 2023 World Bowls Tournament hosted in the Gold Coast, Australia and did really well placing eight in the world in the men’s fours tournament.

The team is looking forward to participating in the 2024 Oceania Bowls Tournament to be held in Auckland, as well as the World Bowls Tournament to be held next year in Hong Kong.

This year will be a busy schedule for Cook Islands Bowls in preparation for their domestic competitions leading up to the Cook Islands Games in October, the Oceania Tournament, and the World Singles Champion of Champions to be hosted in Aotearoa New Zealand in November.
