Letter: ‘Times have changed, so should you’

Dear Editor, Tina (Browne) and Selena (Napa), if you think what was said or done 30 years ago is relevant now, back then the Demos were against the road proposal so you should be too.

. People were sold a lie years ago that Cook Islands needed a five-star resort with beachfront access because we needed those type of tourists. Now we have lots more tourists and more population, more cars, bikes and trucks on the road and more accidents than we had back then.

Times have changed, the world is a different place; even since Covid somethings don’t apply now after 2020. So get with the programme and stop being wet blankets with everyone else who agrees. Are you all scared? Destroying over a million dollars of new improved road and foreshore is an utter waste. This rebuild is not for a five-star resort anymore so it shouldn’t qualify for a beachfront. If the law says five-star resort equals beachfront then they must build a five-star resort or ditch the beachfront. I doubt anyone could achieve that status here anyway.

Unbelievable
