Letter: Staycations

Without being too technical and splitting hairs.

  1. Staycations was something that came up with COVID and hotels were forced by the border closures to offer below cost rates to the miniscule local market as we were shut out of the 99.99% overseas market.  These rates were ridiculous and were only even possible with staff and electricity and mortgage subsidies.  They will never again be repeated, we hope.
  2. There are some that ask for these COVID staycation rates but if they are ever offered again the market we are all in trouble not just the hotels.
  3. We do, and have always offered, off-market local rates during periods of local international demand, particularly the first three weeks of December.
  4. Any locals wanting a local rate should call our reservations office directly or email them on reservations@therarotongan.com or reservations@aitutakilagoonresort.com to see what the best local rates are at any time
