Letter: Show them the door

We are one year removed from the general election where 64 per cent of the formal votes cast were in favour of legalising medicinal cannabis.

And yet we haven’t seen anything done by the Government to help alleviate the physical and mental anguish of Cook Islands patients.

Even after the voters gave Prime Minister Mark Brown an overwhelming mandate to do just that and he promised to move very quickly to enact medicinal cannabis legalisation, the harsh reality is we have been given a front row seat to witness what an abysmal failure he is in keeping his promises.

The Prime Minister’s shallow words and hollow promises is a small version of something much larger happening in our nation. It encapsulates the miniature characteristics of a failed government.

The Government is wallowing in bankruptcy by its admission that it doesn’t even have enough money to form a medicinal cannabis regulatory agency that would manifest itself in the health and wealth of the Cook Islands people.

It’s clear to everyone that the Cook Islands Party members of parliament, along with its coalition partners, don’t know how to diversify the economy and continue to lead us down a path of incompetent and ineffectual leadership.

We are going nowhere with this lot. Prime Minister Mark Brown and his cronies must be shown the door.

Sincerely,

Steve Boggs
