The students make up part of the Puaikura Aquatic’s Club who have participated in the New Zealand event for some years, and are aiming to improve their personal best times.
Twelve-year-old Taunga Miller, a student of Apii Te Uki Ou, enjoys the sport and will be attending the overseas swimming meet for the third time.
“I can swim confidently, swimming kind of builds every muscle in your body and it’s very non-injuring,” Taunga said.
“It’s a whole lot of fun and a good experience.”
