The visiting Otara Scorpions 8-ball Pool team yesterday donated $400 cash to Autism Cook Islands in celebration of the “Blue Day” which promotes awareness of autism or autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Kat Jensen, the programme manager for Autism Cook Islands, said: “It’s fantastic to receive such good support from people visiting the island, we really appreciate it and say thank you.

This goes towards our programmes for our kids.” Later in the year Autism Cook Islands will launch a transition programme for members with ASD who are leaving school age children and ready to enter the workforce.

“We want business to give them work experience,” said Jensen. Donations from yesterday’s fundraiser will go towards the facilitation of programmes for the organisation.
