With most Pacific Island communities each organising a meeting with their own leaders during the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting in November, the Fijian community is buzzing with excitement to welcome Fiji’s Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.

Under the banner of Friends of Fiji Inc (FOF), committee members and the family of Rabuka residing in the Cook Islands are preparing a special event that will showcase Fiji’s rich culture and traditional protocols.

Bogi Leleivuda, the committee chair says this forthcoming gathering holds immense significance, offering a unique opportunity to express their deep appreciation and reunite with the Prime Minister after an impressive 16-year gap.

“This extraordinary occasion promises a heartfelt celebration of friendship, culture, and mutual respect.”

Scheduled for November 5, he said the grand ceremony symbolises the profound appreciation and admiration felt by the FOF and family towards Rabuka.

“It will serve as a moment of unity and connection and an opportunity to showcase the vibrant Fijian culture and heritage to the wider community.

“The event promises to be a sensory delight, featuring captivating traditional presentation performances, traditional kava dances, and traditional Fijian songs performed by the FOF and family of Rabuka.”

He said that every ceremony aspect has been carefully crafted to embody the genuine warmth, creativity, and hospitality for which the Fijian culture is renowned.

Leleivuda said they have eagerly awaited the chance to personally convey their gratitude to Rabuka, whose leadership had contributed to Fiji's positive progress and development.

“This cherished interaction will foster camaraderie, allowing the FOF and family…to strengthen their bond with their homeland and demonstrate their unwavering support for the Prime Minister's endeavours.

“After a 16-year hiatus, this event marks a pivotal moment in the relationship between the FOF and the family and the Prime Minister. It signifies a renewed commitment to maintaining strong ties, celebrating shared values, and cherishing the cultural heritage that unites these communities across geographical divides.”

Known for their warmth, creativity, and friendliness, the FOF and family of PM Rabuka extend a warm invitation to all community members, dignitaries, and media representatives to witness this extraordinary event.

Leleivuda said: “It is an opportunity to experience the beauty of Fijian traditions, witness the deep bonds of appreciation and respect, and celebrate the power of unity.”
