A 53-year-old woman spent a night in custody following an early morning drink driving incident on Rarotonga.

The car she was driving, a red BMW, ploughed into a ditch near Muri shortly after 5.30am on Sunday.

On Monday police confirmed she returned a breath test reading of 460 micrograms per litre of breath following the incident.

No injuries were reported.

She was bailed from custody on Monday and is due to appear in court on Thursday.

Meanwhile, there were three other crashes reported to Police over the weekend including one in Mangaia involving a truck and motorcycle.

A motorcycle crash was called in at 2.30pm on Saturday, a reported hit and run at Betela. The driver of a black Yamaha Jupiter failed to stop after colliding with another driver on a motorcycle.

And in the early hours of Saturday, Police attended to a motorbike crash at the Avarua roundabout.

A blood specimen has been sought from the driver, who Police say was driving while disqualified (DQ).

The other arrest cases involved a contempt of court offender, and a suspect charged with assault on a female, following a complaint filed with Police on Saturday morning.
