The cargo vessel Imua arrived safely at the Avatiu Port yesterday after anchoring outside the port since Sunday, bringing in relief to Rarotonga businesses.

Cook Islands Ports Authority chief executive officer Okesene Moananu said the Imua reached Rarotonga on Sunday but couldn’t enter Avatiu Port due to high winds.

“We had a break in the weather and the Captain and Pilot were both comfortable with bringing the boat…”

Moananu added that the team was working hard to offload all cargo and hoped to complete discharge by last night so the Imua could depart for Aitutaki today.
