Adorable “Mackintosh” was Rarotonga’s cute cupid star on Valentine’s Day yesterday, allowing people to snap a photograph with him and post it on social media.

The Bond Store Cupid accompanied staff members Marion Arbuthnott and Donye Numa delivering Valentine’s Day packs to special customers on the island.

Those who took a picture with Mackintosh and posted on Facebook, tagging the business, went into the draw to win a gift basket.

Mackintosh, one of the neighbourhood dogs, turned up at The Bond Store and was taken home by the liquor store’s sales and marketing manager Numa.

She said Mackintosh’s job is to meet and greet the Bond Team and customers when they visit the shop.

“Visitors to the island absolutely adore him, many have dogs of their own and they miss them while on holiday, especially the children,” Numa said.

“His favourite gig is Saturdays at the market, where he gets out and about spreading love, and getting as many pats as he can, along with donuts. It’s quite common for Hut vendors to message me to let them know that he is visiting.”

Numa said Arbuthnott, who works in retail, is famous for all of the quotes you see on The Bond Store blackboard, which they hope put a smile on your face every day.

“Hence our choice as cupid. This is my first time owning a dog, and it really amazes me how good he is for the soul,” she said.

“Every day is Valentine’s Day if you share your life with a dog.”
