Senior students at Apii Te Uki Ou kicked off their 2024 academic year and first day back at school yesterday with a unique experience – a bus tour on the Rarotonga International Airport.

They also explored the Arrival and Departure Terminals, and gained insights into the diverse career opportunities offered by the airport agency.

Thirteen-year-old student Sinamoana McBride, who participated in the tour, said: “The Terminal Tour was really fun and interesting, learning all about the things they had to say… it was a good experience.”

The tour was part of Rarotonga International Airport’s 50th anniversary celebration on Monday next week.

Meanwhile, St Joseph’s Primary School students return to school today, Tuesday, January 23, while Imanuela Akatemia School will start their academic year on Monday, January 29.

Apii Nikao, Apii Rutaki, and Apii Takitumu students start back on Wednesday, January 24.

Apii Avarua students begin their school year on Thursday, January 25. Apii Avarua teachers are currently engaged in Professional Development days, which started last week on January 19 and continue today and tomorrow (staff-only days).

New enrolments at Apii Avarua will be accepted from January 22 to 24, between 8.30am and 2pm.
