It is common sense to lock doors at night wherever you go and to put valuables in the safe. Rarotonga is no different. These incidents happen in New Zealand more often. Police in New Zealand would not have even attended the scene as they are understaffed. The tourists had every reason to be angry with the thieves but their reaction to Rarotonga and the accommodation was OTT.
