Police have attended to three motor vehicle crashes in Rarotonga over the weekend.

Police spokesperson Trevor Pitt said on Sunday morning, a 14-year-old driver of a car collided with a power pole at Tupapa while undertaking an errand to the shop.

Police were told the youngster had been on the phone and had made a u-turn before crashing.
Also on Sunday at Tupapa, two motorbikes collided by TEM Store when one driver entered the main road.

On Christmas Day on Monday, a motorbike clipped a turning van by Hartal Store in Kiikii. The 16-year-old female motorcyclist sustained injuries to the leg and arm.
Since Saturday, Police have forbidden eight people from driving, due to alcohol consumption. Seven fines have been issued and more than 20 drivers warned for driving non-compliant vehicles, and not strapping safety helmets.

“Everyone, please slow down. Drive safe and sensibly these holidays.”
