Cook Islands Police is investigating an alleged break-in at the University of the South Pacific Cook Islands campus yesterday.

Police spokesperson Trevor Pitt confirmed the matter was reported to police at 2.40pm yesterday.

Pitt said the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) was investigating the matter, “including CCTV footage of a young boy captured entering the premises”.

Based on the complaint, the suspect is believed to be a minor.

“The CIB will need to confirm that from the CCTV,” Pitt said.

The university put up a post on Facebook yesterday, before taking it down, asking for help from the community in identifying “two boys who have broken into our campus recently and stolen a number of items”.

“Yes, it has been reported to the police and they are also working on it. We have video evidence of the thefts not just these photos. We appreciate the community support and hope to retrieve the stolen items,” the post said.
