Man admits to burglary charges

Defence lawyer Mona Ioane requested that his client, Edward Tonorio, have his sentencing date moved.

Tonorio admitted to a charge of burglary, for breaking into and entering Charlie’s Beach Bar in Titikaveka on March 24.

Tonorio was originally scheduled to be sentenced on August 16 for another separate charge, but Ioane requested the adjournment as he was not aware of the other matters.

Tonorio was one of the teenagers who burgled two prominent Rarotonga businesses – Fave Designs and South Seas International – on March 13 and April 1, respectively.

He is to be sentenced for all of the charges on October 4 and is currently on bail with the conditions that he is not to leave Rarotonga, not to apply for a passport, to reside with his parents, not to enter Charlie’'s premises, and to follow a curfew from 7pm to 7am.
