The Ministry of Justice will be closed today for a staff workshop.

Jonassen said the ministry occasionally conducts workshops for its staff to ensure all staff receive training common to all divisions, to see what projects other divisions are working on, and to review goals and improve our service to our community.

“Where possible, we anticipate having our outer island staff participate in the workshop remotely.

“It is also an opportunity as a team to reflect on the goals we have accomplished in addressing our historical backlog, maintaining our legislative functions across more than 30 key legislation administered by MoJ, and improving our processes and systems moving forward.”

He said each member of the team is important, and workshops such as these are essential.

Meanwhile, the ministry is calling on those who would be interested to serve as a member of the Juvenile Crime Prevention Committee (JCPC)

Ministry for Justice Secretary, Tamatoa Jonassen said the JCPC is established under the Prevention of Juvenile Crime Act 1968.

“The JCPC was first established around when the Act came into effect, and it is part of the Children's Court process,” he said.
