Asaeli Ngahe appeared before Justice of the Peace Georgina Williams on a charge of driving while disqualified.

Disqualified driver

The court heard on November 26, 2021, Ngahe, who had been disqualified from driving for 12 months in February 2021 for drink driving, had been stopped by police and refused to give an explanation.

Police asked that a fine be imposed.

JP Williams told Ngahe that if he continued to drive while disqualified, he might not be able to apply for a part time driver licence.

He was fined $50 plus $50 court costs.

Cannabis accused

Joseph Lenard Wachter appeared on charges of cultivating cannabis and possession of a utensil.

Lawyer Michelle Tangimama said her client was not yet ready to enter a plea.

Tangimama said she had been away and asked for the matter to be adjourned to two weeks.

JP Williams adjourned the matter to April 15.

No licence

Ngere Akaroa was fined and convicted for failing to produce a current driver licence and failure to pay a fine.

The court heard he was issued a minor infringement notice on December 20 and failed to produce a current driver licence.

“You need to get yourself a licence,” JP Williams told him. Akaroa was convicted and fined $40 plus $50 court costs.

Failure to pay

Shane Richard Rea told the court he was held up in New Zealand due to the pandemic when he was charged with failing to pay a fine on June 18, 2021.

Rea told the court he had since paid the fine.

He produced a receipt which showed he paid the fine on January 27, 2022.

JP Williams discharged the matter without conviction.
