Over 200 students participated in the Cook Islands Aquatics Swimming Federation Kau competition held last week at Vaiana’s beach in Nikao.

Apii Te Uki Ou went home with both trophies winning the Junior Kau and the Overall Kau competitions.

The annual event features Years One to Eight students.

Leslie Chan, the swim development officer, said: “Overall, swimming technique, performance and confidence have all improved greatly due to the consistency and involvement of the programme.”

“Increased participation and adding swimming to some school’s curriculum have had positive results.”

The swimming federation is looking forward to another great year ahead and would like to thank Vaiana Bistro & Bar, SouthPac and all the volunteers that made the event a success.
