Jetstar, one of the leading low cost airlines made history this morning with the launch of its first direct flight from Sydney, Australia to Rarotonga.

This will be the only direct service linking Australia with the Cook Islands.

Jetstar initially announced two weekly services, but due to strong bookings, added a third service from July to January.

These are: JQ141 Sydney (departure 21:30) to Rarotonga (arrival 07:00) on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday; JQ142 Rarotonga departures 09:00 to Sydney 12:30+.

The inaugural flight arrived today at 7am, and passengers were greeted in style by welcoming cultural performances marking a significant milestone in air travel between the two destinations
