March 24 will see the annual Island Car and Bike Hire women’s triathlon and those wanting to take on this challenge can get some practise in during today’s stroke and stride duathlon race.

Today’s stroke and stride duathlon will be held at the Tikioki tri site starting at 5.15pm.

The distances on offer will be a 300m swim and a 2km run which can be completed once or twice depending on how you feel.

The normal Saturday triathlon will also run from the Tikioki tri site with the course distance on offer being a 200m swim, 8km cycle and 2km run or a 400m swim, 16km cycle and 4km run which is the course distance for the women’s triathlon.

A sprint distance course of a 750m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run will also be on offer for athletes.

The women’s race on March 24 can be done individually or as a team and as is tradition for the women’s tri – the men folk will do all the work.

So if you are keen to tackle the women’s tri, get along to today’s duathlon and Saturday’s triathlon for some training.
