Six codes get started today

Monday 6: Basketball, golf, league sevens, squash, netball and oe vaka will begin their Cook Islands Games competitions today.

Already underway and continuing this week are volleyball, lawn bowls, table tennis and sailing in Aitutaki.

The basketball competition will begin at 5.30pm with all games to be held at the National Auditorium.

Golf tees off at the Rarotonga Golf Club while squash players will gather at the squash courts behind the Catholic Cathedral in Avarua. The two-day netball competition will be held at the Ngatangiia double hard courts where there will be plenty of action for spectators.

There will be three netball games this evening and three more tomorrow with the team winning the most points in the round robin competition to receive the gold medal.

The two-day oe vaka competition also begins today with racing to be held from Avarua harbour. Tomorrow swimming will be held at Tikioki starting at 5pm and anyone interested in tackling the 1500m course is more that welcome to do so.

The swimming competition is open to anyone with the final two race courses of 750m and 3km to be held on Saturday April 11 starting at 5pm.

On Wednesday the two-day athletics event will be held at Takitumu Primary School while boxing will be held on
