Police Commissioner Maara Tetava with Australia Defence Advisor to the Cook Islands, Captain Christine Clarke in Perth recently. They were visiting the shipbuilders for the Pacific Patrol Boat Replacement Program. The first of the 21 Guardian class vessels under the project to be completed by Austal (401) is undergoing sea trials for expected delivery to Papua New Guinea soon. The Australia funded project is valued at around $388 million.
The Cook Islands Police Service hopes to take delivery of its new patrol boat in 2022.
